Our Lord Jesus Christ, Universal King – Year C

Word for today
The Gospel of Luke 23:35-43

The Crucified Way

Here is the Way.It is going away crucified for love.
Here is the Way of Life, the Way of Salvation, it is dying nailed to a cross, mocked and humiliated.
Here is the Way to light with a sign over its head, insult and glory: insult because it is a sign of condemnation, disdain and derision; but it is also a sign of glory as it announces the truth, it reveals the divine kingship of that nailed Way.
We have nailed the Way’s feet, but It will walk with the wings of the Church and of its apostles reaching every corner of the earth and soul.
We have nailed the Way’s hands, but It acts and heals, and, with the power of the Comforting Spirit, comforts and creates once again even more heart to heart in all of its children.
We have silenced the Way’s mouth, a voice full of grace and truth, but now its word and its voice can reach across history and time how and where they wish through the voice and the contagious testimony of all its children.
During those days the Enemy was too busy encouraging men to kill Jesus; as a result a very important and final detail was missed. The Enemy did not consider that from the day of the cross those nailed feet have un-nailed our feet, those nailed hands have un-nailed our hands, that silenced mouth has freed our voice forever.
The cross is the tree that has planted the Life on earth, the resurrection has enlightened it with Life, the Pentecost has filled it with Truth and mercy.
The cross is the tree of the merciful way, it is the Way where God meets and embraces all of His children, the Way of love where even a burglar finds his way towards the Father’s light, where all humanity finds the door, the door to Home.
